The ultimate performance pickup, the 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 brings a massive dose of Viper power to the performance pickup segment, with a class-demolishing 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque. Topping 150 mph in maximum speed and reaching 60 mph in just over five seconds, Dodge has recalibrated expectations for truck performance.

With 500 horsepower (372 kW), 525 lb.-ft. of torque (712 N•m), 505 cubic inches and a 500 watt ear-melting sound system, Dodge dominates in every category. The 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is the new performance truck icon. The Ram SRT-10’s mayhem-making ability is delivered courtesy of the highest displacement engine in a factory pickup truck — the same 8.3-liter V-10 that powers America’s ultimate sports car, the all-new 2003 Dodge Viper. The V-10’s horsepower rating easily surpasses all other pickups — not to mention virtually every production sports car in the world.

ABSOLUTE POWER = ABSOLUTE DOMINATION
From the beginning, the engineers at Performance Vehicle Operations (PVO) knew the powertrain was in place. The 8.3-liter Viper V-10 was upgraded for 2003 with a new bored and stroked aluminum engine block that increased the Viper engine’s displacement from 488 to 505 cubic inches, and pushed its V-10 power output to 500 horsepower and 525 lb.-ft. of torque.
Resting on unique engine mounts, the new V-10 engine delivers 90 percent of its whopping 525 lb.-ft. of torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm. The all-new cast-aluminum cylinder block has interference-fit cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main caps.
Both bore and stroke have been increased over previous Viper models, raising displacement volume to 505 cubic inches. Block length, block height, bore spacing, firing order, rod length and compression ratio are unchanged.

Resting on unique engine mounts, the new V-10 engine delivers 90 percent of its whopping 525 lb.-ft. of torque from 1500 to 5600 rpm. The all-new cast-aluminum cylinder block has interference-fit cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main caps.

But the Ram SRT-10 is more than just a big Viper motor in a bad-ass truck. The engineers at PVO modified the standard Ram’s steering and independent front suspension. Working with the fully hydroformed Dodge Ram frame, one of the stiffest in the industry, PVO added a custom-tuned suspension, dropping the Ram SRT-10 an inch in the front and 2.5 inches in the rear. New front and rear strut assemblies and a rear sway bar were added to handle the increased cornering loads.
Next came Bilstein mono-tube shock absorbers, performance-tuned springs, unique aerodynamic aids to keep the Ram SRT-10 planted at high speeds and 22-inch custom "Viper-style" wheels fitted with 305/40 R22 Pirelli Scorpion tires for extra adhesion.
Big brakes, another Dodge Ram staple, are also modified for the 2004 Ram SRT-10. The standard ABS-equipped brakes are fitted with new 15-inch rotors on the front

Drawing heavily on the Dodge tradition of producing powerful trucks with a strong sense of style, the Ram SRT-10’s chiseled features were sculpted courtesy of Chrysler Group’s new wind tunnel and with a subtle nod to the Dodge Ram NASCAR truck series entry.
"Our theme was to add muscle where it was needed, not unnecessary adornment," said Trevor M. Creed, Senior Vice President — Design. "We spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel with the Ram SRT-10, and that’s why you see a deep front fascia with a splitter and a subtle rear wing. In fact, the lift values for this vehicle are that of a sports car, not a truck. The rear wing is not only functional, providinga reduction in lift, but it also provides a rare for a wing reduction in drag."
The most noticeable exterior feature of the new 2004 Dodge Ram SRT-10 is a unique hood that features a wide power bulge and scoop sitting atop the signature crosshair grille. "Viper Powered" badges on either side of the hood scoop leave no doubt as to what resides underneath.
Keeping things simple, the Dodge Ram SRT-10 is available in black, red and silver. The updated Ram lines of the Ram SRT-10 provide a look of machined elegance with a lower — and an even bolder — stance than the standard Ram.
The Ram SRT-10 rides on unique 22-inch polished aluminum "Viper-style" wheels, the largest wheels available on a production pickup.
The new front fascia, unique hood with integrated air intake and billet grille provide a look of serious muscle. A one-inch lower ride height in the front, two-inch lower ride height in the rear and ground-effect moldings provide plenty of "hunkered down" attitude even before the red ignition button is punched.
From the side, an aluminum fuel filler, unique SRT-10 badging and red brake calipers visible behind the 22-inch wheels distinguish the Dodge Ram SRT-10. The rear spoiler, custom rear fascia with cutout for dual exhausts and large, center-mounted chrome Ram’s head badge provide the view for the majority of the motoring public.
