  • Tarzan Yamada's Tomei Cusco Impreza

Team Tarzan’s Tomei Cusco Impreza was one of the highest anticipated cars for Super Street’s 2008 Super Lap Battle. The renowned pair of engine and suspension component companies teamed up to build a car capable of upsetting the lap record Nobuteru Taniguchi set in 2007 with the HKS Hypermax Evo.

Like the rest of the car, the engine bay was a work of art. As you’d expect, nearly all components were either Tomei or custom made for this application. One can spend hours admiring the intricacies of this motor setup. If you want to get full details on the exact specs of the car, make sure to buy the upcoming issue of Super Street Magazine.

The giant front Brembo brakes with slotted multi-piece rotors definitely played a role in helping Tarzan achieve the fastest overall time. Just look at how massive those things are! You can also get a sneak peek at the inside of the front bumper - aerodynamic and bracketed down so it doesn't move. Completely the opposite of drift car bumper setups, which are only zip tied on, so they will come off easily, without breaking the bumper.

The 2.5 liter boxer motor (aka EJ255) makes 500+ horsepower as a result of the enhancements Tomei has made. The exhaust fumes spit out by the Garret GT3076R turbo exit through this subtle tip sticking out of the rear bumper trimmed with carbon fiber.
