Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft

El Deustche Tourenwagen Meisterchaft es una categoría de automovilismo disputada en Alemania entre los años 1984 y 1996. Participaban automóviles de turismo modificados que alcanzaban una potencia de casi 400 CV. Sin embargo, la obsesión por lograr un mayor poderío a nivel mundial, la llevó al colapso en 1997. Renació como categoría en el 2000 como Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters.

Esta categoría inició en Alemania en 1984, y rápidamente atrajo a importantes marcas tales como Ford, Alfa Romeo, Mercedes Benz, Opel, Audi y BMW a participar con equipos oficiales con sus automóviles de calle pero modificados para correr en estas competitivas condiciones.

La llegada de marcas oficiales llevo a la categoría a un auge tecnológico increíble e inesperado, que los llevo a desarrollar valiosos aditamentos que hoy se usan en los automóviles de calle, tal como los frenos ABS, tracción a las cuatro ruedas, el chasis de fibra de carbono, entre muchas otras innovaciones.

Sin embargo, sería esto también lo que condenaría el futuro de la categoría, ya que el ímpetu por lograr mayor público para promocionar las marcas llevo a un mayor gasto para ganar y también para correr en lugares fuera de Alemania, incluso fuera de Europa (Brasil y Japón).

Esta alza en los presupuestos llevó a que cuando se cambió el nombre DTM por ITC (International Touring Car Championship) en 1995, las marcas decidieran retirarse. Sólo quedó Mercedes en competencia, quienes se retiraron en 1997 dejando al sueño del Mundial de Turismos acabado. Y también la mejor categoría de automóviles con techo de la época, hecho que sólo ha logrado recuperar hoy en día el nuevo DTM, diez años después.

Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters

El Campeonato Alemán de Turismos (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) es una competición de automovilismo que se realiza en Alemania. Los coches que participan en la competencias de DTM son automóviles de turismo fabricados en Alemania, tales como el Mercedes-Benz Clase C, el Audi A4 y el Opel Vectra, aunque modificados para alcanzar velocidades de casi 300 km/h.

Esta competición es organizada anualmente por la Asociación Carrera Internacional de Turismos (Internationales Tourenwagen-Rennen e.V.) en cooperación con la Federación Alemana de Automovilismo y Motociclismo.

El DTM es considerado la categoría de turismos más importante del mundo y una de las series de automovilismo internacional más populares, junto a la Fórmula 1 y el Nascar. Su éxito ha demostrado que los espectadores desean ver coches de turismo espectaculares compitiendo al más alto nivel y eso es exactamente lo que ofrece este certamen. Por ello, estos coches son tan atractivos tanto para los aficionados como para los mejores pilotos del mundo: pilotos de la talla de Bernd Schneider, ex-F1 y pentacampeón de DTM, Jean Alesi, Ralf Schumacher, Heinz-Harald Frentzen y Mika Häkkinen, bicampeón mundial de Fórmula 1, participan en el certamen actualmente.

Tras el colapso de una actividad que en su incio había servido no solo para fomentar el automovilismo en Alemania sino que también como una fuente de éxito monetario para las marcas, los directores de las ramas deportivas de Mercedes Benz, Opel y Audi se reunieron en 1998 y 1999 para reorganizar y revivir al DTM, con el objetivo de lograr una categoría tecnológica, competitiva, pero de costos razonables para poder invertir.

En 1999 se desarrolló la idea, se creó un reglamento y las marcas probaron sus modelos para la temporada 2000, la primera del renovado DTM, una categoría que desde ese mismo año ha llamado poderosamente la atención del mundo automovilistico, posicionándose como la serial más importante a nivel mundial de coches de turismo.

Entre las características que han hecho tan exitoso al DTM se cuenta con motores de 4000 cc V8 y con 480 HP de fuerza, lo que permite que por cada temporada se utilicen solamente dos motores por torneo, lo cual reduce notablemente los costos.

Actualmente el DTM vive una nueva etapa de "gloria" con pilotos de gran clase como mencionábamos anteriormente: Jean Alesi, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Mika Häkkinen, Alan Mcnish, todos ex-Fórmula 1 son ejemplo de lo anterior. Además el calendario visita los mejores circuitos no solo de Alemania sino también de Europa, tales como Brands Hatch en Inglaterra, el Circuito de Cataluña en España, Le Mans en Francia y Circuito de Zandvoort en Holanda.

Como dije en el otro post,a mi me gustó mucho hasta la época del ITC, o sea, cuando estaban los alfa 155 y los Calibra. Y la mejor época, sin dudas fue la de las Sierra Cosworth y los Kadett GSi donde los autos eran mucho mas terrenales

*tengo varias cajas con dvd's del dtm,btcc,v8sc etc
me encantan

es impresionante como se daban sin asco en TODAS las carreras
se la ponian de lleno, ni siquiera frenaban,,,
fontana parece un nene al lado de estos monstruos
