The GM Performance Parts aluminum 376ci, 480hp LS3 came from Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center and is mostly stock except for the Holley four-barrel throttle body, HP self-learning ECU, and integrated distributorless ignition system. The engine compartment drew stares from Power Tour(r) participants not because of its sanitary state but because the LS3 was dressed to look like a factory Chevy 396. A dual-snorkel air cleaner robbed from a '70 Corvette does a great job of hiding the throttle-body, and Tom went the extra mile by having the aluminum engine covered in Chevy orange paint. The coil covers are Holley prototypes made to look like big-block Chevy valve covers.

A Ford 9-inch stuffed with 3.50 cogs hangs from the factory trailing arm suspension. The arms connect to a CPP low-profile crossmember, and So-Cal Speed Shop coilovers smooth out the rough stuff.

The LS3 is backed by a QuickTime bellhousing and Spec Stage III clutch. The Tremec TKO-600 manual tranny is from Bowler Transmissions and is hidden by a custom tranny tunnel. The six-speed is flanked by a prototype set of Hooker headers, Aero Chamber mufflers, and 2 1/2-inch piping.

The brain of the Holley ECU is stealthily hidden behind the glovebox lid in front of the Vintage Air A/C system. From the outside, you'd never know that this truck was so high tech and comfy to drive.
